Keftedes (Greek Meatballs) with Perfect White Rice

Keftedes (Greek Meatballs)

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp chili pepper flakes
  • 1 cup milk
  • cups panko breadcrumbs

Perfect White Rice

  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cup water
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp salted butter


Keftedes (Greek Meatballs)

  • Preheat oven to broil, or 500 F
  • Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix all together using your hands.
  • Roll out the meatballs by measuring approximately one heaping tablespoon and placing them on a large baking sheet.
  • Place them on the top rack in your oven and broil for approximately 12 minutes, or until the tops are nice and brown and the meatballs are cooked through.
  • Serve with your choice of side and enjoy!

Perfect White Rice

  • Add the rice to a medium pot.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water is clear. 
  • Drain the water then add 2 cups of water and the salt.
  • Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. 
  • Once the rice is boiling,  turn the heat down to low and cover the pot for 10 minutes.
  • Once the rice is cooked, add 2 tbsp salted butter and stir it in until the butter is melted.
Course: supper
