Keftedes (Greek Meatballs) with Perfect White Rice
Ingredients
Keftedes (Greek Meatballs)
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp chili pepper flakes
- 1 cup milk
- 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
Perfect White Rice
- 1 cup rice
- 2 cup water
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp salted butter
Instructions
Keftedes (Greek Meatballs)
- Preheat oven to broil, or 500 F
- Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix all together using your hands.
- Roll out the meatballs by measuring approximately one heaping tablespoon and placing them on a large baking sheet.
- Place them on the top rack in your oven and broil for approximately 12 minutes, or until the tops are nice and brown and the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve with your choice of side and enjoy!
Perfect White Rice
- Add the rice to a medium pot.
- Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water is clear.
- Drain the water then add 2 cups of water and the salt.
- Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
- Once the rice is boiling, turn the heat down to low and cover the pot for 10 minutes.
- Once the rice is cooked, add 2 tbsp salted butter and stir it in until the butter is melted.
